VAN MAHOTSAV CELEBRATION 2022

“Think green & live green. Save the trees, save the earth, we are the guardians of nature’s birth.” Van Mahotsav is an annual tree-planting festival which is celebrated in India in the first week of July. Our school celebrated Van Mahotsav from 1st July to 7th July under the supervision of the offg. Principal Mrs Jonali Talukdar Sarmah. Few activities and competitions were organized for Primary and Pre-primary classes. Thumb Painting and Real Leaf Pasting activities were organized for Nursery, LKG and UKG classes on the topic “Nature”. At the same time Germination of Seeds and Plantation of Saplinsg activities were organized for Class - I to Class - V students. All these activities were arranged from 1st to 5th July 2022. The students showed great eagerness while doing these activities. They were told about the importance of each tree that was planted and were given simple instructions on how to take care of the same. A Poster Making Competition was organized for class III, IV & V on the topics – Save Earth, Go Green & Save Trees on 6th July 2022. Annual Van Mahotsav Day was celebrated on 7th July 2022 on the school premises. The day was celebrated as part of the ‘Go Green’ initiative. The event began with a simple but effective speech by the student about the importance of trees and their socio-economic effects. Maj (Dr.) Ayush Sharma, Secretary, Vartak Model School was the guest on this program. A dance was performed by the students from class III to Class V. A speech was delivered by the secretary of our school. Several problems or issues created by deforestation and depleting trees were highlighted through the speech. The students were made to understand and appreciate the role played by the planting and tending of trees in preventing global warming, reducing pollution & promoting rainfall. They also learned that ‘Van Mohotsav’ is celebrated at the onset of the monsoon season because the saplings planted during this period have a greater chance of survival. These various activities helped to instill the value of social responsibility in the students.
