COLLAGE MAKING COMPETITION

“Art Expression is a unique way of linking imagination and creativity with the shades and tints of colors and paints.” A collage is a work of art composed of numerous materials such as paper, newsprint, photographs, ribbons or other objects attached to a background support. A collage allows one to experiment with a wide range of disconnected materials to achieve amazingly harmonized end results and to enrich student’s experience in pictorial composition through the handling of new materials. ‘Collage Making Competition’ was organized for the students of Pre-primary on September 25, 2021. The students were briefed about the significance of the activity. Participants were given ample opportunities to showcase their creativity followed by the theme. There divergent thinking was challenged when they were presented with an array of flat material. They had to decide what to use and how best to use the material to express themselves. They made attractive collages with varied themes and kaleidoscopic patterns. This activity was focused on realizing the principle of ‘learning by doing’. Children enjoyed the activity a lot because it was a completely new concept for them. This activity gave immense exposure to the creative minds of the students by stimulating their imagination and inculcated in them a sense of appreciation for art and craft. At the same time, it enhanced their hand – eye coordination, colour recognition, motor skills and problem solving skills.
